Happy Wednesday, pretties :] So typically I post reviews of the previous month every second Wednesday of the month but since there’s an extra Wednesday this month I thought I’d just spilt up my review into two reviews, one per book. So we’ll start out with the fictional book this week.

So as I mentioned last month, this book came to me HIGHLY recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint! Although I feel I have definitely read more gripping historical fictions (The Other Boleyn Girl, for example) The Red Tent certainly captured my attention and I finished it within a matter of days. The book’s narrator is a Biblical character, Dinah and it follows her life in a way that the Bible does not. Some reviewers on Goodreads complained that the author didn’t develop the character of Jacob well enough but I liked that the book was heavily focused on the female perspective, especially since many stories passed down from that time are very male-centered.

I would give this book four stars; I wouldn’t reread it, but it was definitely really good while it lasted! I didn’t really love any of the characters, but I did like them and was upset when their fates weren’t favorable. I recommend this for someone looking for a quick read :]

Don’t forget to add me on GoodReads so we can share books on there too :] What have you been reading lately?

  • the description of the story doesn't really appeal to my taste, but if I liked The Other Boleyn Girl, then I might enjoy it? x
