We were staying with a childhood friend in her picturesque apartment near one of the main squares in Florence. She and all her roommates are artists, so the place was decorated marvelously, gorgeous pieces of art hanging from all the walls. We took the stay in Florence as visiting a friend, not a tourist vacation. We did a lot of lounging with biscotti and espresso, a lot of aimless wandering and window shopping. This particular afternoon, we stopped by a bakery and a grocery store to pick up some Italian “nibbles” and wine and headed up to this high point overlooking the city, from where we watched the sun start to go down but not quite at sunset point yet.
The beams of sunlight behind gloriously historic Ponte Vecchio were like looking at a National Geographic spread. I still can’t believe that this was my real life for one late afternoon.
Side note, this is my ONE HUNDREDTH POST! I wanted it to be special so I’ve been waiting to post this haha. My personal favorite posts on the blog are my travel ones, so this is in honor of that. I kinda wish it was about Paris my favorite place but I already started my Florence series and I didn’t want to go out of order haha. Anyways…happy 100 posts to me!
