San Diego // A Day in Balboa Park
A couple of weeks ago, Ilhan and I celebrated his 26th birthday with a date to downtown San Diego and Balboa Park :] We are lucky to get some truly amazing exhibitions in the museums at the park, and I surprised Ilhan with a visit to the Natural History Museum for one about pirates (he LOVES pirates!). It was a super interesting museum trip, and the coolest part was we got to see pirate treasure recovered from a sunken ship…apparently the only pirate treasure ever recovered? They had a case where you could touch a few of the coins and it was amazing haha.

Pictures were forbidden in the museum, so I just took a bunch as we walked around the park. I love being there, especially on a sunny day like this one. The grounds are so green and sprawling and the architecture is just STUNNING.

We were absolutely starving after walking around for so long, so we stopped into The Local for a late lunch/early dinner. They had a wide variety of local beers and a great food selection on the menu…so if you’re in the area you should definitely step in for a drink and a bite ;]

We ended the day with a trip to the movies to see The Purge: Anarchy. Even though the movie was kind of meh, it was nice because we never go to the movies haha.

Lets just end on that note. Have you seen any good movies lately? Because I’m horrible with movies and I’d love some recommendations hehe.
  • i haven't seen a movie in the theaters in like forever! and treasure chest sound so fascinating! you two are so cute 🙂 have a wonderful weekend!

  • These photos are amazing! Looks like you had a fantastic day!

  • oh wow, what a place! it look gorgeous! as do you both 😉 x

  • ok all that food looks amazing! When we went to crater lake there was this really cool rock formation that looked like a pirate ship, and they called it the phantom ship. 🙂
